Does a AA in Criminal Justice help get a career as Crime investigator?

There is no job of “crime scene investigator” like what you see on CSI. The crime scene people who process and collect evidence are police officers, but that is all they do. The people at the lab who analyze the evidence are civilians, and they stay in the lab. They typically have 4 year degrees in chemistry, biology, forensics, or another science. The people who put everything together and ‘solve the crime’ are detectives. They are the investigators. An AA degree will help you with either a detective position (after being a cop for five years or so) or with the Crime Scene position.
