Does 911 work with the Internet/VOIP phone services?
911 can work with VOIP service, however it is different. The following was taken from www.voip911.gov. Under the FCC rules, interconnected VoIP providers must: • Deliver all 911 calls to the local emergency call center • Deliver the customers call back number and location information where the emergency call center is capable of receiving it • Inform their customers of the capabilities and limitations of their VoIP 911 service As a consumer of the service, you need to understand the details and ensure your needs are met through your VOIP provider.
