Doctor took x ray before I got out out of the room, will my baby be ok?
I am also assuming that the person taking the x-ray was a radiologic technologist aka x-ray tech. It is really too bad that you were treated that way. The RT should have explained why it was perfectly okay for you to remain in the room for your child’s x-ray, instead of making you sick with worry. First off, at 23 weeks, it would be safe for you to have certain x-rays on yourself. For example, a foot, hand or chest x-ray would expose your fetus to very little, if any, radiation. Also, in the second trimester, the fetal organs are fully developed and are not as radiosensitive. Secondly, distance is used to your advantage when dealing with radiation. If you are right next to the patient who is being exposed to radiation, you will get a very small dose of radiation. If you are just three feet away from the primary beam, you will get nearly NO radiation.
