Do young women still choose to become nuns in this day and age?

Yes, we just had a visit from an Order who are trying to start a new House here in our town. All of the women who visited were under age 30 and said the average age of their House was less than 35. I do think there are a lot fewer nuns because people in general are less ‘religious’ meaning they attend church regularly and participate fully. Also, there are lots of Orders that do not dress in the long black habits and wimple. I met a lady a couple of years ago and I knew she was very devout, but just recently learned that she is a nun. She has not espoused an Order but is more ‘freelance’ I guess you call it.
