Do you use Amazon ISBN and UPC Codes to compare prices when buying in bookstores?”

I can’t say I spend that much time comparing prices, mostly because in the past Amazon has always beaten brick and mortar store prices at most bookstores (except Crown Books which I think is no longer in business). If I were to compare a price, it would have been by the title and not by something as detailed as the ISBN or UPC codes. Assuming you’re actually looking at the same edition, then those codes are standard and would be the same at Amazon and the bookstore. But if it’s a slightly different edition, a later printing, etc. then I believe the codes would be different. Since my interest would primarily be in the content of the book rather than specifics of the edition, I’ve had no reason to compare the codes. But for a bookseller trying to set competitive prices, I can see why this might be valuable, though probably too time consuming to pay off.
