They are not being kind – they are trying to bring in business. They really don’t have much of a reputation for their Womens division anymore so are trying anything to bring in the money any way they can to keep the agency relevant. They aren’t even ranked on the Models.com Womens ranking anymore http://models.com/agencies/top/ The Mens Board is very good, but for Women all I can guess is that they would rather book commercial work for now if the high fashion bookings are not coming in. And don’t forget, in general commercial print work pays more than runway or editorial. A single Coca Cola national ad campaign paying the model $50k brings the agency $10k in booking fees + $7500 to the agent as his/her commission. Compare that to a Vogue shoot paying $500 where the agency only gets a $100 booking fee and the booking agent gets $75.
