Do you think they should teach, new mothers and Fathers, CPR, before they take their child home?
Great Idea! Sometimes I also think: For almost everything we buy that we plan to take home and keep with us for a long time we get printed instructions. We take a baby home and we are on our own! Hospital should provide “instructions” that will make it easier and safer for everyone involved when trying to raise the baby.
You have been given a beautiful new life that you want to love and adore for years to come; so yes I think it should be mandatory for parents to attend and pass the infant and children CPR and first aid class administered by a licensed Red Cross individual. It’s not a huge burden to bear, but loosing a child to SID would be devastating.
I think everyone should be first aide and CPR certified through the schools system…high school maybe and then up to each person if they wish to renew their certifications…I’m a nurse and I’d like to think that if I had a tradgedy that someone could help me, as I am able to help them. Good idea, by the way.
I think it should be offered but not required. If a parent is a little mentally slow and has that on their mind they could panic. CPR on a newborn could be fatal. I do agree with your ideas. Parents should be required to know it all take a test and get a liscens but even with that look how many wrecks we all still have.
