Do you think there is still truth in the kind of journalism practised today in Nigeria?
Yes, journalists write the truth and in understanding how these things work, journalists work with the information they get and sometimes, the information may not be correct. There are sources giving information about inside dealings of some places and areas, which are reliable and over the years, you have got information from them and you have used the information and they happen to be reliable, you begin to trust them. If the person now misleads you and gives you a false information because you rely on him, if it turns out to be wrong, may be the journalist has cross-checked, and perhaps, believes that the information is correct, you will not blame him that he has gone out of his way to mislead the public. When the mistake is detected, the journalist has the obligation of making a correction.
