Do you think there is a discernable difference in character between cat lovers and dog lovers….?
Hi, Like most interesting questions, the answer to this one is a matter of opinion. Here’s mine… To an extent, I think there are personality differences between “dog people” and “cat people.” But how much of those differences are based on personality and how much are based on circumstance? For example, I’m a dog person, but I live in small place so I had a cat for a long time (RIP Grimes). I’d love to adopt a dog, but given my living situation and the fact that I’m not home all that often, I choose not to. I do see your point about dog lovers needing to “exact obedience.” That’s a valid point. However many of the dogs I see have about as much self control as a morbidly obese kid in a candy store. While I can’t say with any certainty if there are personality differences between the two kinds of people, I can tell you which animal is more popular in the United States. I wrote an Ask Yahoo! on the topic and found that “there are currently about 88.3 million “owned cats” and around 74.8
Not so sure about the difference in character, more a difference in appearance. Never noticed how often people look like their pets? Not always of course, but very often. If you don’t believe me start taking notice now. Best place to start will be at a stable where people keep horses they own. They just seem to look very horsey. Not being horrible, just something I’ve always noticed. Dogs and cats are the same, check it out.
