No, I don’t think it should be killed for acting instinctively. It’s a terrible situation for the trainer who was killed and her family, but it’s a wild animal, and from the reports it sounds like she of course knew that and her family knew that, and there are always risks involved with working with wild animals like that. It puts us in an awkward situation. I hate to see animals penned up and not given the freedom to live a natural life. It seems so cruel. I hate to see animals in too small enclosures, pacing for hours, caught in repetitive actions due to boredom and frustration. But then again, they do serve another purpose, one that benefits their kind and their ultimate existence in the world, and the existence of other creatures.
