Do you think that TV programmes cause bad behaviour in children?
TV is not a cause of bad behaviour, but is highly influential to impressionable people, i.e children and less able teenagers shall we say. Parents are often ignorant and frankly stupid. They allow their kids to watch rated films (15/18 cert) either not knowing or just ignoring how bad tv/films are nowadays. The graphic details, sick story lines and generally content which is often disturbing for normal adults – is not for kids. Most kids I assume have tv’s in their bedroom, free to watch what they like. Bad idea. Some parents may see South Park/family guy as just a cartoon, how far from the truth eh. Adult content, adult humour for adults, who are able to interpret right and wrong, what is and isn’t acceptable. I spoke to a colleague whose son who is 11 had the new Grand theft auto game. Though it clearly is an 18 cert game, he was completely ignorant to the language and high level of violence.
