Do you think that Bernina sewing machines are good machines?

Wow a Bernina at $40.00, grab it! I would ask her why she’s selling, maybe she’s planning to trade up. Ask her if she has had it tuned, timed, & serviced lately. If she hasn’t, then you’ll have to do it. It’s a good practice to have it serviced at least once a year. Ask her where she has had it serviced. I have a Bernina that’s over 30 years old. It is my major sewing machine I use to handle all types of fabrics. It is all metal, Swiss Made, and just an absolute dream. I have never considered upgrading to anything else. The only other machines I have are a serger, and an old, heavy duty, 56 year old Singer. Older all metal machines are easy to fix, and can last another 50 years with proper maintanece. Don’t let the age fool, older machines were made to last. Another good thing about Bernina is that you can still have help and instructions if you take it to a shop that service’s Berninas. There is a yahoo group dedicated to discussions of the use of old Berninas. The group is called:
