I’m in the South East of England. My next door neighbour did exactly the same thing but it could have been fatal. She has 3 children 8yrs, 4yrs and 2 (very young) When she moved in, I introduced myself to her and her family just to say hi, but she was very distant. She broke up with her partner and was left to look after the 3 children on her own. She then began to leave the the children at home alone on occasions. I had a word with her and told her that I was aware of it and I told her if she really needs help, she can leave the children with me and they can play with mine – she was still very distant and continued to leave the children on their own. One Friday evening, I could smell burning next door – my neighbour had left the children on their own, they got hungry and decided to cook something. To cut a long story short, the children had caused a major fire in the kitchen, they managed to get out safely with the help of me and the other neighbours. The mother was arrested and the c
