Do you think hand sanitizer companies are indirectly causing OCD with their marketing post swine flu?
I don’t think they are causing people to get OCD because people with OCD are born with it. Many people don’t know this beacuse it is a relatively new discovery. It is due to a chemical imbalance in the brain of the neurotransmitter ‘serotonin’. I have OCD and I am on medication called SSRI’s (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). But people with OCD, their symptoms can change over time, they can get better or worse, so I do believe that all the emphasis on hand sanitizers could cause someone with OCD to get the symptom of fear of contamination.
