We still have rappers that are trying to live of the glory of the golden era of gangsta rap of the late 80s and early 90s like The Game. But Dr Dre is releasing his new album Detox in 2010 and also The D.O.C is planning to make a new album so they bring gangsta rap make into the spotlight.

i wouldn’t say its dead but i wish it was cuz now its just fake, its all about how much money, cars, houses they got theres nothing like old school rap ya thay talk bad about girls but that still has not changed but its only groupies so i really didnt care an they raped about real things that were going on in there lives THAT THEY ACTUALLY LIVED THEMSELVES ..

Pretty much. Fake rappers nowadays all pass off as ‘gangsta rap’, the only MCs keeping it alive by any chance are the ones from the golden age like Ice Cube. Even Scarface seems to have retired now.
