No, I am not offended by birds covered with oil in comics, that is what comics are for, you can pull stunts you wouldn’t do in reality, like sinking ships, exploding people (or animals), and be generally mean to others. Comics are to be taken lightly, and should not offence you, even if you don’t agree. People are too quickly offended as it is. A prime example is the muslim world reaction to the Danish cartoons, which they thought were offensive to them, because it showed Muhammed carrying a bomb on his head. Basically, your reaction to the seagulls being covered in oil are similar to the muslim reaction. My advice: Don’t be so easily offended, and try to see the humor of it.
