Do you think American schools should teach French or Italian so kids could learn a foreign language?

I grew up in the United States and it wasn’t until I reached high school that I had the opportunity to learn a foreign language. During high school I took 4 years of French. However, I found that learning a new language was difficult. I think in part that was because I didn’t start learning until I was older. Young kids have a much easier time picking up new languages. Because of that I think that American schools should start teaching children foreign languages much younger than high school age. Language classes in elementary school would be ideal. Knowing more than just English is a big advantage as you get older. It can open up job opportunities for you or allow you to travel the world with ease. Also, once you know one foreign language learning others becomes much easier so you can always expand the number of languages that you can speak or understand if necessary.
