Street crime in Bangkok is virtually unknown, just watch out for being ripped off though. If a tuk-tuk driver says “20 baht all day”, do a runner, cos he’ll take you to a gems shop where you will be persuaded to part with your hard earned cash for something thats almost worthless. Watch out for the scams, but besides that you’re ok. The only real dangers will come from the other drunken tourists. I’ve been going there for the past 12 years and have never had any problems. Enjoy.
