Do you think a shape shifter like Tonks would be an animagus too?
The term for Tonks, her son, and those like them is metamorphmagus. And technically anyone who changes shape without the use of a postion is a shape-shifter. The question at hand, however, is whether or not a metamorphmagus could also be an animagus. I don’t recall if it’s ever mentioned in “Order of the Phoenix,” onward if Tonks could become an animagus or not. Since she could so easily disguise herself, I don’t see why she’d want to. Seems most of the animagus became such for the purpose of disguise. In the books we only ever meet four living animagus (we do meet a fifth but only in the form of memories and as a spirit, not flesh and blood like the other four). These four are are Professor MacGonagall, Rita Skeeter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. Now of these four, MacGonagall and Skeeter seem to fit with what seems to be the case for most animagus. They both seem to disguise themselves for various purposes. Sirius and Pettigrew, along with James Potter, became animagus for a dif
