Do you support the passage of the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan?
I will work vigorously and diligently toward the board’s passage within the next several months of a Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan that is fair, comprehensive, and above all effective both in preserving our precious desert animals and plants, and in restoring critical plant communities and wildlife corridors that have been lost. This will benefit the development community as well as our environment because it will give builders a clear map of where they can and cannot develop projects in the future. The plan will include obtaining a Section 10 Endangered Species Act permit from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The permit will assist builders in obtaining building approvals &151 it removes about 15 months from our process. This saves builders’ time and money while ensuring compliance with federal law.
