Do you support Proposition 8 in the state of california?

I’m voting NO on 8. It’s absolutely ridiculous to want to take such a basic human ight away from someone just because of how people interpret their bible. If they want to stop gays from getting married to “protect the sanctity of marriage” then maybe they should make a national amendment banning adultery and divorce. If we want to go by what is written in some bible then maybe we should go back a few hundred years when state and church weren’t seperate. Then we can do everything the church says and make it law. NO ON 8! I’m not going to stand in the way of someone’s natural born right or happiness.

I am 100% against proposition 8. I am not gay, but I have many problems with it. 1) Who are we to dictate other peoples right to marry the one they love? The only real argument for this is that the title “Marriage” should be between a man and a women. If that is how you feel then fine. Here is what should happen. The title “Marriage” should not exist under the government. The legal benefits that come with “Marriage” should not be called “Marriage”. Everyone (Both heterosexual and homosexual couples) joins in “Civil Unions” and Marriage can be a title you get through your religion or something. The government can not discriminated agents any group of people. This way you keep your title, and everyone is treated equal under the government. 2) It goes against the 14 amendment. The 14 amendment of the constitution states that one citizen cannot be denied any rights that another citizen has. So weather or not you support gay marriage or not it would go against the constitution to deny a gay

Proposition 8 is about changing the California Constitution to define Marriage as between only 1 man and 1 woman. What worries me most is that this Proposition is going down the slippery slope where the majority is infringing on the Civil Rights of a minority. Regardless of if you believe it is morally right or not, my concern is that California’s ballot measure if passed is infringing on our Civil rights and sets up a dangerous precedence for others to lose their rights as well. So no on prop 8.

I do not support Proposition 8. I feel like the right for gay couples to marry is essentially a human rights issue. Gay couples in a dedicated relationship should be able to have the same legal rights as married couples do. This includes rights to ownership, rights to make medical decisions for a partner, and parental rights. The issues get muddied when people throw moral judgments based on religious preferences into the mix. We Americans have always been fiercely proud and protective of our human rights. I think it is a shame that the needs (and rights) of one group of people are ignored based on their sexual preference.

I am in support of prop 8. Saying that it would change the law unfairly is a faulty argument. Four activist supreme court judges already did that in May when they overturned a 61% vote of the people to have marriage be between a man and a woman. The no campaign may say that gay marriage equals equality, but laws like that would ruin many people’s freedom of speech and religion- that most certainly is not equality. homosexuals could sue churches for not marrying them, religious orphanages for not letting them adopt a child, and gay marriage will be taught equal to straight marriage. Prop 8 MUST PASS! It affects the future. It’s not a hate thing at all, it’s just that we want to make marriage between man and woman only as tradition has had it. Being called a bigot because of my moral feelings doesn’t seem fair and equal to me. once again, please vote yes.
