Do you see the baton of ‘romantic hero’ passing on to Ranbir?
I don’t know whether romance will be the mainstay in films to come. Ranbir wishes to do films which are slightly curving away from the usual. I am very unhappy about that but maybe I am old fashioned. Today, films don’t dwell on music, lip sync is going out of fashion, romance is not necessarily there. You can’t call Ranbir’s Rocket Singh a romantic film. There is no lady love. So I cannot pass on the baton to him. For me romance will always be the anchor of Hindi films. Song and dance has to be there because it is a very integral to our culture and rightly so. Films like New York which is without songs are running successfully. So I cannot say anything.
