Yes. I respect the elderly. Mostly the same way that I respect everyone. But sometimes, the elderly among us need more consideration, especially in this fast-paced and impersonal world. On an personal note, I was the only one in my family that asked about and went to see my Great Aunt (on my mother’s side) when she developed Alzheimer’s. Sadly, during my youth, she treated me with great disrespect, as I was adopted and my parents later had a child naturally. She viewed me as unnecessary and illegitimate in my family structure, which she made known to me many times. She also had two sons within her only marriage, one who died of polio when he was young and the other left home, never to return, and refused much contact with her because she could not accept his being gay. I eventually moved away, moved back to take care of my father just before he died and later my mother, who survived him, only to have to rally family to attend the funeral of this woman who detested me so when I was youn
