Do you remember ration stamps issued for the purchase of gasoline, kerosene heating oil?

Yes I remember, and there was an abundance of tires, sugar, and other rationed goods, in the ‘black-market’ The government officials took bribes back then also, but Dad would not deal with the crooks, we picked coal from the spillage on the RR track, tended a garden, and went junking for scrap metal. He sold our family collection of 78 rpm records, as the shellac on them was needed for war materials, would you believe we had two barrels full. Had we kept them, no telling what value some would have been to collectors. Looking back though, I believe we did the right thing selling them, we would have even donated them if we were well enough off.
