Do you like “Coat of Many Colors” by Dolly Parton, and “Coal Miners Daughter”, by Loretta Lynn?
Besides being a huge 20 year fan of Dolly, I have to say that her “Coat of Many Colors” is very special for so many reasons. It not only harks back to the days in poor southern areas where money was tight (as it was for Loretta as well), but it shows you that times may change but people never do. You still see children being made fun of in this day and age for what they wear, money is still tight for families everywhere, and love is still the universal connector. It is tough to find the same compassion and love in music today as Dolly and Loretta had back then.
