Yes, go to your local Chamber of Commerce. I strongly recommend it. Ask the same question there. What you’ll likely find is that your local chamber has it’s own version of business start-up consulting and education. Its a common thing for Chambers to offer. But what’s more, you’ll be getting additional advantages out using the chamber instead of a college or correspondence course. For one, you’ll be getting familiar with the Chamber. Chambers of Commerce are great networking opportunities. They also tend to be self supportive in many respects, meaning the chamber members (business owners) tend to use other chamber member’s business’s when they look for services and suppliers. Secondly, you’ll be getting advice and learning that is more specific to your area. Courses on entrepreneurial-ism tend to be very, very general, like an MBA in a box. They skim the surface of a lot of topics but not usually in a way that sticks. Local educators are going to be more to the point and very specific.
