Bittorrent speed will vary based on your ISPs download rates. But there are ways to maximize your download speed. Ensure that you have configured your program properly. Some programs are improperly configured out of the box (BitTorrent, BitLord, BitComet, BitSpirit). Check your upload speed when nothing else is running. Set your upload speed to 80% of the highest upload speed, so you can still use the net. Try an online speed test. Don’t run too many concurrent downloads at the same time. You should have about 20kb/s per download and about 2kb/s to 3kb/s per concurrent access. Never exceed 5 concurrent downloads unless you have incredible upload speeds. Ensure that your bittorrent client is configured properly. Do the port test. The speed will be severely curtailed if your sharing speed is slow.
