There are many games online suitable for an 8 year old. My favorite one that I was introduced to by my peers, is called Club Penguin. It is owned and ran by Disney now. It is a Social, Online Game where you can communicate, collect coins for new clothes, and play with new friends you meet along the way! It is completely safe. Club Penguin has vigilant moderators online 24/7 that will automatically ban you from the game for any obscenity or vulgar comment you make.

Club Penguin is free, but if you would like to get new clothing and accessories (That look way better than the free ones), you can buy a Membership. I believe the rates were about $6 per month. I highly recommend this game!
