Do You Have To Wear Knee Pads And Volleyball Socks While Playing Volleyball?

It’s legal to play without knee pads or socks, but your coach might want you to wear them. There are passing and defensive skills used in volleyball that require you to go to your knees when playing the ball. For example, a knee drop is done to pass a ball that is serve short. You do a knee drop (drop to one knee) and forearm pass the ball. Of course if you plan on diving, you better wear knee pads. Also, when buying knee pads, be sure to get the ones with a flat front foam. The cheaper old school style ones that aren’t flat prevent you from sliding on your knees, they’ll stick to the floor and this messes you up and skins up your knees.
