Do you have to have local phone service to have dsl?
You don’t have to have it but they may tell you that you do or make you jump through hoops to get it. They typically charge about $5 more a month to get the DSL without phone service but then you don’t have a phone bill and you can get Skype, like I have done. Just beware there are down sides to not having a phone line, although the only one I can think of is 911 service is not available. The up side is no Spam calls and no monthly phone bills. I have just the DSL and no phone service and I use a Linksys Skype Phone and a Cell Phone will all of the local Emergency numbers in it.
