Do you have to be in documentories or short films in order to get into Blockbuster films?
Short answer no, with a big BUT! You don’t need to have credits in smaller movies to land a role in a major film, BUT you do need to have a combination of talent/skills/ and looks that the production may be looking for. Long answer short, fi you have little to no experience with recognizable movie credits, there is often times very little chance that a CD will bother wasting time to see you at all for an audition, UNLESS you fit the look of the character exactly. It’s happened before and it will happen again, just don’t bank your career on it happening to you. Co-starring and supporting roles are often offered to people who have some experience, or are in the process of making a name for themsevles, but for whatever reason the producers, directors, cd’s etc.. don’t feel that they may be able to carry a movie. The short films will give you a ton of experience, including information you can’t learn in a class or out of a book. They also give you material to start building your reel with.
