Sodium Laurel Sulfate is an inexpensive sudsing agent that is used in many detergents and shampoos. There is a great deal of evidence that sodium laurel sulfates and not good for people or the environment (see these links). They also create suds which causes many other issues (see question 3). Some natural products list “coconut oil derivative” or “plant derived cleaning agent” on their label. This is often Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Keep in mind, just because something comes from a natural source doesn’t mean that it’s good for you or 100% safe. Selestial Soap does not contain any Sodium Laureth Sulfate. 20.
