Two San Antonio area high school marching bands competed Monday in the University Interscholastic League’s state competition, an annual contest held at the Alamodome at which a handful of marching bands perform. Neither 2A band — from Randolph High School in Universal City and Jourdanton High School in Jourdanton — advanced to the final round, held Monday evening. Tuesday, several 4A South Texas bands are scheduled to perform, including those from Alice High School in Alice, Edcouch-Elsa High School in the Rio Grande Valley, and Calallen High School in Corpus Christi. Each fall, marching bands from across the state compete in local UIL competitions. Those with the best scores advance to regional competitions, with the top bands moving to the two-day state contest.
