An antimicrobial is used in the formulation of SurModics stabilization products to preserve their biological integrity. We do not make any further claims for antimicrobial efficacy once the product is in use. During development of the products, Antimicrobial Preservative Effectiveness was performed. A summary of the results may be requested from Customer Service. Tell me more about the antimicrobial (Microprotect) product (PDF). The second page outlines recommended concentrations; the antimicrobial concentration of the StabilZyme products (and StabilCoat Plus and StabilGuard Choice Stabilizers) is at 0.2%. Be sure that you do not dilute the stabilizers to a point below the low end of the antimicrobial’s efficacy.
