Do you ever list or help rescue any pure wolves or other wild candids?
This website is mainly for wolfdogs, but we do aid in the rescue and placement of pure wolves, should any ever crop up. We frequently get requests to help place supposed “wolves,” but these animals almost always turn out to be wolfdogs or dogs. It is rare to find a genuine pure wolf in private hands, and even rarer to find one in rescue. We do occasionally get in animals that are around half wolf, and at any one time, we may have about 2-4 animals listed that are mostly wolf. When a pure wolf does come up in rescue, it is usually placed in a sanctuary rather than in a private home. Pure wolves are very hard to keep, and once they reach adulthood, it can be very difficult (and stressful) for them to bond to a new owner. Restrictions on keeping pure wolves can also make finding a private home for one very difficult. On occasion, we may also help in the rescue/placement of a coydog (coyote/dog mix), but these seem to be even rarer than wolves!
