Do you ever feel bad about being “mediocre”? Not having any outstanding intellect or talent?
It’s human to feel emotions and things, and feeling you don’t have extraordinary talents of one kind or another is common. Like you, I didn’t follow a profession, I had/have jobs and I too always wanted to be June Cleaver, except cleaning house in high heels is out. I also live in an extremely competitive area filled with high achieving, high performing individuals. It’s hard to feel anything but mediocre when your neighbors and friends are working, raising kids, keeping a home and doing volunteer work all at the same time. These are the people you see talking on the cellphone while driving the kids to practice or lessons and doing their nails at the same time! Okay, slight exaggeration but that is just not me. I have been reminded by my children that I’m a great mom, cool grandmother and loving, talented person.
