do you deadhead seed pods of lupine?
First of all, seedpods aren’t deadheaded. Deadheading means picking off the spent flowers in order to make the plant produce more. By the time they have gone to seed, it is too late to start deadheading. Second, lupines do not rebloom…once they are done blooming in early summer, that is it. They will not bloom again until the following year. If the seedpods are left on the plant, they will burst and drop to the ground, and may or may not grow into new plants next spring. They are best collected once they have dried and turned brown, and saved to plant indoors during late winter. The seedlings can be planted in the garden as soon as the soil has warmed.
