Do you consider the alaskan klee kai a purebred?
I consider it a developing breed. Almost to the stable point but there was a LOT of argument in the original AKK developers whether the breed was ready for any recognition yet. I think they let it be recognized by UKC a little too early. But in general AKKs are fairly consistent within genetic variance. I was considering an AKK and had quite long conversations with one of the developers. I think you will eventually see it in the AKC, CKC, KC, etc. The parent club is still trying to keep fairly tight control on breeding dogs. Having been in racing for so many years – I still see it more as a Pom-like than a “mini-husky” in temperament. And it certainly is NOT a mini-Siberian. AKK is based on the Alaskan Husky (which is already a mixed breed with no consistancy although some people are trying to establish a standard for Alaskan Huskies also).
