Do you consider Mors Syphilitica as a “fruit” of the creative process that you began with Requiem In White…Or they are just two different projects?
Requiem in White was an important part of my youth. I’m glad I did it, and I’m glad that it is over. In my opinion, the breakup of Requiem in White has been a boon to our listeners. In the time it took that band to put out one and a half records, Mors Syphilitica and Judith (Christopher’s Current band) have collectively released nine or so (far superior, in my opinion) collections of music. Requiem in White is far from our musical heyday. It was a time when three (sometimes four, and at one time six) people agreed to make music together, nothing more. The reason I have very little nostalgia for it is because it has never ended. Both bands that sprang from Requiem in White have continued to answer the questions that were being asked back then. These are eternal questions and they live in the constant “now”. There is no reason for nostalgia.
