There is the question of whether he knew right from wrong, but there is no question but that he did exactly what he wanted to do either because he did not care about the consequences, or was unaware that there would be consequences, or because he did not know the consequences This is the saga of all psychopaths and the story of all deliberate murders. What is unique about Jeffrey Dahmer’s case is that the crimes were so heinous and their details were so flagrantly spectacular that most people are fascinated and captivated by them. Of course he knew what he was doing. He did exactly as he wished and consequences be damned.
