Do you believe the Royal Family still plays an important role in society today?
The Queen plays an inportant part in today’s Governmental admin. For example the PM must request her permission to become Prime Minister and also she opens Parliamentary sessions. Technically she can refuse someone rom being Prime Minister although there has never been an instance where this has been done. Similarily all new statutes in law must be signed by her- in an emergency such as war the PM and Queen can fast track a bill- the NNorthern Ireland Act was passed in a day. The Queen is also the only person who can officially declare a state of war, and it is also the Queen who heads any millitary committees and deployment. Really the Queen’s major role is to head the Government and act where there is a risk of a fascist/corrupt actions by the Government. Also, the Royal palaces and the Royal name make millions in tourism revenue for the country. Memrobilia is incredibly popular in the US and in Africa. The Queen and Elvis Preseley are the only two people to be recognised world-wide,
