Do you believe that Manny Villar use his position IN THE senate on the C-5 controversy?
I think that EVERYONE is just trying to get propaganda out for their side. EVERYONE who opens his mouth on the topic has his/her own interest. As a foreigner living in the country I have to say that Senator Villar is perhaps just too trusting on the topic and does not expect to be singled out as the bad guy. He is a successful businessman long before and I doubt that he would put his standing and reputation at risk for what is truly a “small amount” (for someone of his wealth). Winnie Monsod compares apples and oranges because the C-5 extension is is NOT Build-Operate-Transfer. Hence it is also free to use (perhaps the government can collect toll by themselves?). Land acquisition cost was based on zonal values – if that is true, nobody took advantage. If zonal values where used it reflects that land near residential developments (happens to be land owned by Sen. Villar’s company?) is rated at a higher value.
