Do you believe police officers should be empowered to enforce the immigration laws?
We do have the power, BUT with restrictions. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that police officers cannot ask a suspected illegal immigrant for their green card. it violates their rights. This can only occur, when the suspect is under arrest and then its permissable to ask for the green card. In my city, many illegal immigrants have been deported, but only legally and according to law.
