Do you agree with the Booker prize shortlist for the best books of last 40 years?
As far as I know it to be, the Booker award goes for really good, unusual and ‘different’ books. I’ve only read one on this short list shown here, because I admire what Nadine Gordimer writes, and how she writes. We could add to the short list for a long, long time, don’t you think? I’d add a book by my friend if I could… If it was really good, unusual, et cetera, and it is. But I’m not even in the UK, for one thing, and there are many respected prizes, for another. Your addition is fine, Life of Pi. I don’t know your second choice. These will no doubt win or have won other prizes, or may just become classics without a prize, which happens too.
