Do you advise against buying certain properties because of negative Feng Shui?
Sometimes, yes. Some properties can be just plain difficult and should be avoided. Others can work well after making a few changes. Of course weighing up the cost and extent of these changes will ultimately determine whether it is a worthwhile purchase. But the truth of it is that good buildings that support a healthy, peaceful and harmonious lifestyle can be hard to find. An important part of my appraisal process is to first understand the client, their lifestyle preferences and their personal and family or business requirements for space. A building that has good Feng Shui for one family may be quite inappropriate for another. Feng Shui is quite specific to the person, place and time period. Certain characteristics of a property can provide useful clues. For example, it’s a good idea to learn about the previous history of the property.
