1) You don’t have to connect to Xbox Live to play the game unless you download the game again on another 360 with the same account. 2) If you don’t renew you Gold membership, you will still be able to play the game. You could, in fact, buy more XBLA titles if you wanted. Xbox Live Marketplace only requires a Silver membership (which is free) to purchase and download content.
