Women are not as insecure about coming in contact with someone of the same gender as men are. I don’t care who works on me, as long as they do a fantastic job. There’s a little idea that massage therapists and others in professions that involve touching people subscribe to, called the power of intention. Basically what that means is the intention of the person who is touching you is very clearly communicated by that touch. For instance, your significant other can touch you with a typically mundane gesture (like putting a hand on your shoulder), and it suddenly takes on a whole new meaning because the intention behind the gesture is intimate and loving, whereas from anyone else the intention would simply be caring or comraderie. When a massage therapist of either gender lays hands on you, it is with the intent to soothe, relax, and heal. They don’t get hung up on gender. To them, you are muscle covered with skin, muscle that needs to be unknotted and flushed out and released of its tens
