Do wild morning doves eat alfalfa?
They are Mourning Doves and not Morning Doves. Doves are grain and/or seed eaters. They will probably eat some of the alfalfa but that is not their main diet. Bird Seed would be fine if you want to feed them. They thrive on wild sunflowers and wild grass seeds. They are naturally ground feeders so scatter the seed on the ground rather than in a bird feeder. If you choose to feed them continue to feed them through the winter and spring. If they come to depend on your feeding them they may have much difficulty locating feed to enable them to survive if you lose interest and quit putting feed out.
