Do whole wheat wraps have starch AND carbohydrates?
Wheat is mostly starchy complex carbohydrates. Bread, cereals, pasta, rice, nuts, potatoes and sweet potatoes are all mostly starchy complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates are found in fruit and cellulosic complex carbohydrates are found in vegetables. Table sugar is a simple carbohydrate and is probably the worst carbohydrate there is. Syrups, molasses and treacle are also very bad simple carbohydrates. Fruit is good simple carbohydrates. Corn flakes, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, potato chips and white bread are examples of bad starchy complex carbohydrates. They have a high GI index that makes them unsuitable for diabetics. All carbohydrates metabolise to glucose.
