Fur clothing is clothing made entirely of, or partially of, the fur of animals. Fur is one of the oldest forms of clothing, thought widely used as hominids first expanded outside of Africa. Some view fur as luxurious; others, including some citizens of the first world, reject it due to animal welfare and ethical concerns. The term ‘a fur’ is often used to refer to a coat, wrap, or shawl made from the fur of animals. Fur is generally thought to have been among the first materials used for clothing and bodily decoration. The exact date when fur was first used in clothing is debated. It is known that several species of hominoids including Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis used fur clothing. Fur or skin clothing of some form is worn in virtually every country. We don’t need to wear fur but there are reasons why fur should be encouraged. Fur trapping is regulated to prevent overharvesting of different wildlife species. In many cases its used as a population management tool. Trappers and hunters are some of the most effective protectors of wild areas and animal habitats. Fur farms are environmentally friendly businesses. Fur is completely biodegradable, synthetic clothing is not. Consider the environmental impact of the manufacturing and disposal of other clothing materials before you take a stand against the use of animal hides and fur.

Most people don’t need to use fur. In very cold countries, where they can’t grow things well and need to eat meat, it makes sense to use the animal skins. The majority of people live in places where organic cotton or hemp is available to wear, and therefore don’t need fur. When an animal is killed only for it’s fur, I think that’s cruel and unnecessary. I don’t think that endangered species need to be killed for their fur. And I can’t stand the way that animals raised for their fur are raised and slaughtered.

some animals are killed for their fur – this is wrong however if the animal is killed for meat (deer, cattle etc) then – yes we should use the hide.. infact its more environmentally friendly to do so than to manufacture synthetics.. or even Cotton – Cotton production destroyed an entire sea (the ARAL SEA) and caused the deaths of millions of fish and other animals really people need to learn not to be so greedy – you do not NEED as many clothes as you probably own..
